Your Council
Who Are We ?
A parish council is a local authority that makes decisions on behalf of people in the parish and has an overall responsibility for the well-being of its local community. It is the level government closest to the community, with the district authority above it in the hierarchy. Parish Councils cover three main categories:
- representing the local community
- delivering services to meet local needs
- striving to improve quality of life in the parish
Pentewan Valley Parish Council is made up of 9 Councillors who voluntarily give their time to try and make a difference to our community.
- A Parish Council is the first point of contact for anyone concerned with a community issue.
- Parish Council represent the concerns of local residents and provide services to meet local needs.
- The Parish Council holds monthly meetings to discuss Council business and to hear from local residents.
- In addition to this we have several subcommittees that deal with specific subjects the subcommittees also meet on a regular basis.
- Most importantly we are here to represent you, the residents of our community.

When we meet
We hold an Ordinary Full Council meeting on the third Wednesday of every month. For details, dates, times and venue of our Committee Meetings, please contact the Parish Clerk. Meetings can also be found on the website calendar and under Minutes and Agendas section. We publicly display the agenda on our notice boards at Tregorrick, London Apprentice, Levalsa Meor riverside car park and Pentewan Village.
Members of the public are more than welcome to attend our meetings. We would ask that you familiarise yourself with the agenda before attending so that you know the business to be discussed. Alternatively, if you have an issue that you feel the Parish Council should be addressing please get in touch with the clerk two weeks before the meeting, or contact the clerk one week prior to the meeting if you wish to raise the issue under public participation.
